Aloha, I'm Jim Heath, a colorblind artist whose world is painted with the vibrant hues of the ocean, surfing, diving, snowboarding, and skateboarding. Growing up in the sun-soaked embrace of Huntington Beach, California, during the '60s, '70s, and '80s, my journey has been a kaleidoscope of experiences that find expression on my canvas.

Colorblindness isn't a barrier; it's my unique perspective. It's like having a secret palette, one that sees beyond the conventional spectrum. The ocean, with its dynamic shades of blues and greens, has been my perpetual muse. I translate the ebb and flow of its tides onto my canvas, capturing the essence of a constantly shifting seascape.

My art is a reflection of a life spent riding the waves—be it on a surfboard, under the ocean depths, or navigating snowy slopes and skate parks. The rush of catching that perfect wave, the silent dance of a deep-sea dive, the adrenaline-fueled descent down a snowy mountain – these are the moments that inspire me. I thrive on the motion, texture, and emotion that these experiences bring, compensating for the colors I may not see in the traditional sense.

The influences of my Huntington Beach upbringing are evident in every stroke. The nostalgia of the '60s, the carefree vibes of the '70s, and the rebellious energy of the '80s infuse my work with a timeless quality. It's a visual journey through sun-soaked days at the beach and neon-lit nights at skate parks, encapsulating the spirit of those defining decades.
